1. Eligibility Criteria

For Officer Level (Navigational & Engineering Officers)

Educational Qualification:

10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) for deck and engine officers.

Age Limit: Usually 17-25 years (varies by institute).

1. Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMU-CET)

Conducted by Indian Maritime University (IMU) for admission to B.Tech (Marine Engineering), B.Sc (Nautical Science), and other courses.

Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, and Aptitude.

Usually held in June/July every year.


2. JEE Advanced


Required for admission to Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI), Kolkata and other IIT-related maritime courses.

3. All India Merchant Navy Entrance Test (AIMNET)

Conducted by Indian Maritime Foundation for various maritime courses.


4. T.S. Chanakya Entrance Exam

For admission to B.Sc. Nautical Science at T.S. Chanakya (IMU Mumbai Campus).

Some shipping companies conduct their own entrance exams and training programs (e.g., Anglo-Eastern, Great Eastern, Maersk, and Shipping Corporation of India).
